My Territorial Acknowledgment

I would like to acknowledge and thank the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Esquimalt and Songhees Nations) and WSÁNEĆ peoples on whose unceded territories I continue to live and work, not only for their nurturance and protection of these lands and waters - which I turn to frequently to provide me with guidance and peace - but also for their openness to sharing their stories and values with us to build better supports and community.

I have experienced and continue to experience a lot of trauma in my life as a disabled and queer person of colour. I have some understanding of the many harmful, lasting impacts that oppression and colonialism can have on people’s cultures as well as the societal and intergenerational trauma that often comes with it.

Therefore, I seek only to uplift others through my work by creating a safe space in which people can share their deepest desires without fear of shame or judgment, and express themselves openly and safely. I believe that the opposite of love is not hate, but fear itself. And I envision a world filled with harmony and wholeness; not lack and scarcity.
